Film Producer, 39, Arraigned For Swindling Woman Of N5m Under False Pretence

A 39-year old film Producer, Abisodun Adeleye, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling a woman, Motunrayo Raheem Fatimot, to the tune of N5m under false pretence. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in April, 2025, at about 1230hours at Agidigbi Road, Ikeja area of Lagos.
The suspect allegedly obtained the money under the pretense of producing an Yoruba film title; Ojo Mesan, meaning 9 days’ which turned out to be false.
Abisodun was said to have convinced the complainant to pay the money in question for the production of the film within an agreed period.  However, after he collected the money, he bolted away and disconnected every communication he had with the complainant.
The matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained him  at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Abisodun Adeleye and other now at large sometime in the month of April, 2025 at about 1230hours at No 96 Agidigbi Road, Ikeja in Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit fraudulent conversation and stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 325 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Abisodun Adeleye and others now at large on the same date time, place and the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully obtain for yourselves the sum of Five Million Two Hundred Sixty Thousand Naira (5,260,000.00) from one Motunrayo Raheem Fatimo ‘F’ under the pretense of producing an Yoruba film title; Ojo Mesan, meaning 9 days, which you fully know to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 313 and punishable under Section 314 (1) (a) (b) of criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, Abisodun Adeleye and others now at large on same date, time, place and the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal the sum of Five Million Two Hundred Sixty Thousand Naira (5,260,000.00) property of one Motunrayo Raheem Fatimo ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 () (5) of criminal law of Lagos State 2015″
COUNT IV: “That you, Abisodun Adeleye and others now at large on the same date, time, place and the aforementioned magisterial district, did obtain and fraudulently converted the sum of Five Million Two Hundred housand Naira (5,260,000.00) through Opay Account Number 129 and 8182299267 for your personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (1) (a) (b) (2) (a) (b) (c) (d) and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT V: “That you, Abisodun Adeleye and others now at large on same date, time, place and the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by inciting the members of the public against the Police and thereby committed offence punishable under Section 168 (d) criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
