The Chairman Fowosere Queens Football Club, Oluwadamilare Adejayan, has urged Lagos State Governor-elect, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to build a sports centre at Abaranje-Okerube of Alimosho Local Government when he resumes office in May.

Adejayan, fondly called Fowosere by his admirers, told journalists in Lagos that there is no sport centre in Ikotun- Igando Local Council Development Area especially Abaranje and Okerube axis which had affected some footballers and made them to leave their community and train in distant locations.

He said lack of recreational centre at Abaranje and Okerube communities informed why some youth to go into social vices, saying that the administration of Sanwo-Olu should look into this matter and build a befitting sports centre that will connect football clubs from Igando, Ikotun, Abaranje, Ijegun and Okerube communities together.

“We are using this medium to appeal to our incoming Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to build a recreational sports centre for us in Abaranje-Okerube communities. We have footballers here, unfortunately we don’t have a befitting sports centre we can use to engage these boys to showcase their God-given talents,” he said.

Adejayan who is also a football organizer said since the present government has stopped football clubs or football competition organizers from training in public schools, things have been so difficult for the organizers to stage football competitions in Abaranje and its environs

“Aside being a club owner, I am also a football organizer and I have been organizing football competitions in the last ten years. In the last few years now, the government stopped us from organizing football competitions in Abaranje Okerube Primary School which affected us. Where we are using now is five- a side field which I think it is not good enough for young players to exhibit their God-given talents. I am using this medium to plead with the government to allow organizers and club owners to use  public schools for event, with thisz things would be better in grassroots football,” he said.

Commenting on the ongoing Fowosere Female Football Competition, Adejayan said that the tourney has reached the semi final stage. He said Fowosere Queens will battle Jojo Queens, while Oyinkansola Queens take on Ken- Tade Queens on Wednesday.

According to him, the final ceremony would hold on Sunday. Adejayan said a lot of prizes would be given to outstanding players and teams that creditably perform well throughout the competition.
