Foundation Credit Officer Lands In Trouble For Empowering Self With Company’s N.950m

A 38-year old female credit officer of Givers Empowerment Foundation, Oluwabunmi Seyi, has landed in trouble for diverting the company’s N.950m to empower herself in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Seyi has been arrested and charged for criminal diversion, obtaining and stealing under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
The incident happened on 1st August, 2023, at Bassey Street, Igando area of Lagos, where the foundation’s office is located.
According to the Police, Seyi was employed by the company as a a credit officer and was asked to be collecting money from customers and remit to the company’s account.
However, Seyi collected the amount of money in question and converted it to her own use with the intention that the company would not know. But unfortunately, the company later discovered and asked her about the money. She admitted to have collected the money and have used it to solve her personal problems.
The management then handed her over to the Police at Igando Division and she was detained for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
During interrogation, Seyi reportedly admitted to have collected the money and used it to solve her problems and promise to refund it.
The Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N350,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 26th September, 2023, for mention.
