Four traffic robbers were arrested on the Christmas Eve for stealing some items by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, (RRS), in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects Wasiu Olawale, 23 an ex-convict, who was released in May, 2023, Adebayo Olatubosun, 20, Wale John 28 and Uche Ugwu, 25, were arrested along MKO Abiola Gardens in Lagos.
The Police also recovered some stolen phones and ATM cards, which they robbed from their owners during the operation that evening and tried to escape through the area.
However, they ran out of luck while they tried to escape as the RRS operatives on surveillance in the area accosted them for interrogation having suspected their movements.
During interrogation, they were unable to answer questions which they were asked appropriately and they were searched. The stolen phones and ATM cards were recovered from them as exhibits.
A Police source revealed that the suspects told the Police that they actually went for the operation from which they intended to raise money for the celebration of Christmas and New Year before they were arrested by the Police.
Their arrest was confirmed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed that the suspects were in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged criminal conduct.
The Police spokesman stated that one of the suspects, Wasiu Olawale, was an ex-convict, who was released in May, 2023, while the rest who were the principal suspects are currently assisting the Police in their investigations.
He also stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
