FUTO Honours Governor Uzodimma With Honorary Doctorate Degree Amid Vice Chancellor’s Display Of Unwavering Integrity

The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) recently held a ceremony awarding honorary doctorate degrees, with the event significantly shaped by the presence and actions of its Vice Chancellor, Professor Nnenna Oti.

Professor Oti, whose recent role as Returning Officer in the Abia State governorship election garnered national attention for her unwavering commitment to upholding electoral integrity amidst immense pressure, presided over the ceremony.  Her actions, praised for their courage and commitment to truth, have cast a spotlight not only on the university’s awards but also on the importance of ethical leadership within Nigeria’s public sphere.

Professor Oti’s reputation for integrity, built on a distinguished academic career spanning over 70 peer-reviewed national and international publications and numerous invited papers presented globally, preceded this event.  Her past accolades, including the NUC – Best PhD in Nigeria Award in 2002, further solidify her position as a respected academic and public figure.  Her declaration during the Abia election – “The people’s votes and mandate shall stand.
