Joseph Kuteyi, a very dependable defender of the Golden Eaglets, a product of Future Stars Football Club, Lagos was wrongly registered as a player of Football College ahead of the WAFU B U-17 tournament.

Kuteyi distinguished himself all through the screening period and various training sessions of the Golden Eaglets at the FIFA Goal project, MKO Stadium, Abuja under the Head Coach of the National U-17 team Fatai Amoo who said in an interview that “All the players need do is to come and prove their mettle, irrespective of who they are, who sent them, or where they are coming from.

It is very shocking to see the player name linked to Football College when the 25 – man list was made public few days ago.

The parent and player wrote to the handlers of the U-17 calling for the rectification and removal of Football College name attached to Joseph.

The parents stated that the only club they have agreement as regards Joseph is Future Stars FC in Lagos.

However, feelers from the camp of the Golden Eaglets indicate that the error will be corrected, as one of the officials of the team informed that the right thing will be done regarding the defender.

The competition is also a direct qualification for the 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup finals in Peru and the top four teams are guaranteed a place in the tournament.

Nigeria is the most successful team in the history of the U-17 World Cup, winning tournaments a record five times.
