GBI, Bayelsa State Senator

The “common sense” Senator made wave all around the world. People from different races in the U.S. were asking me why Nigeria is not electing people like Ben Murray Bruce to be president of the country, instead of the many caricatures we have had in power.

So, even though I was more centered on Ben Bruce bringing dividends to my people in Bayelsa State, and to the Ijaws in general, it was tickling that an Ijaw son was making wave all around the globe with simply just trying to make common sense. But that na national politics, and not as Bayelsa-ish or Ijaw-ish for me to become a big fan.

Even then, I was surprised that BMB decided not to run for a second term as senator from Bayelsa State; matter of fact, I asked him on Twitter to please tell us why he chose not to run for a second term. No response. And all I could think of was that he was gunning for the seat in Creek Haven. Alas, that too did not even happen.

Swinging forward to today, with all the wild animalistic tendencies been demonstrated by thieving characters like Akpabio and his band of thieves in NASS, I can’t help but wonder what common sense principles BMB would have used to make a bold statement. I wonder because, to this minute, with all the exposed crimes coming from the NDDC, I have not heard pim from any quarters representing the great Ijaw Nation Capital State at the Federal level.

We must change this narrative, and right now, there is no one with all the prerequisite qualification, experience, knowledge, and goodwill to put us back on the map than GBI. Godknows Boladei Igali will make common sense for the great ancestral home of our forefathers; especially, in this super challenging times in our journey as a people.

My people, soon, and very soon, Nigeria “must” re-work its’ constitution if it is to survive. GBI knows this more than anyone else, and he, as an astute diplomat – who served in countries with some of the best working constitutions in the world – is best able to deliver for our people, so we don’t yet again, serve as bench warmers and gawkers when our future is being negotiated.

Bayelsa, and the entire Ijaw Nation at large, must, as a matter of strategic urgency, send GBI to the Federal House, the Senate. There is nowhere in Bayelsa that must be starved of good drinkable water, or be tortured with months in and months out of darkness. Water and light is the basis of life, and by divine selection, GBI has been well-prepared to make this happen for Bayelsa State. We need GBI in the Senate now!
