As we countdown to 2027 general election, a lot of things are playing out. As part of democratic practice, there are ongoing alignments and realignments.
But the story of Bayelsa State is unique in many ways. While there is so much tension in many states because of conflicting political interests, the case in Bayelsa State is highly commendable.
Multitudes of Bayelsans are queuing behind Gov. Douye Diri because of his unique style of politics that anchors on unity, teamwork, and consensus building.
When you move along the streets of our towns and villages, you will hear echoes of commendation of the good works of the governor.
Before the inception of the ASSURED Prosperity Administration, political sessions were always full of tension and uncertainties. The atmosphere was always filled with envy, hatred, and bitterness.
Gov. Douye Diri is not only changing the narrative in the areas of infrastructure, education, sports, and health, he has successfully eliminated all forms of discrimination, segregation, and hitherto prevalent primordial and parochial sentiments.
Presently, it is difficult to distinguish political parties that Bayelsans belong to. It is so because Bayelsans in all political parties try to deemphasize party membership while pledging their total loyalty and allegiance to His Excellency, the Peoples Governor.
Democracy encourages opposing views and Bayelsa state is not an exception. However, the case of Bayelsa State is different and even peculiar because of the majority of Bayelsans who are solidly behind His Excellency especially because of the good works he is doing.
While we are mindful of the grand conspiracies of anti-progress and anti-democratic elements who are bent on causing confusion in the state, the voices, unity, and will of the people shall prevail.
This is the first time in the political history of Bayelsa State where Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses were conducted, and there were no post-congresses crises. The above is the result of the excellent work of a grand master strategist.
