Gov. Douye Diri: The Evidence Of Nexus Between Generational And Intentional Leadership

WISDOM ONIEKPAR IKULI

Since the creation of man, Almighty God always raise special humans that He uses as saviours to accomplish His purposes for humanity.

We know the stories of father Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, David, Joseph, and others.

Beyond the above outstanding names in the Bible, we know the stories of Mahmat Ghandi of India, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jnr, Lee Kuan Yew, Nelson Madiba Mandela, Paul Kagame and other very notable leaders God has used to change the stories of His people.

While talking about the above leaders, it is pertinent to note that there is something very special about all the names mentioned above. They all belong to a specie of humans that are described as “GENERATIONAL LEADERS”.

Because of the uniqueness of generational leaders, God releases one of such leaders in every 100 years.

Generational leaders are usually very humble, selfless, and unassuming. They are very sacrificial. They are compassionate about the peace, unity, freedom, growth, and development of their people. They don’t promote disunity, hatred, bitterness or unhealthy rivalry among people. They don’t entertain or encourage gossips, discrimination or segregation.

Moving forward, everyone that knows Gov. Douye Diri argues and also agrees that truly, he is indeed a generational leader.

Besides being a generational leader, Senator Douye Diri is very intentional and purposeful. He is on a special mission with a clear vision.

Mahmat Ghandi is described as father of independent India, the same way, Lee Kuan Yew is described as father of independent Singapore.

I will not be accused of sycophancy and hypocrisy if I describe Gov. Douye Diri as father of the “New Bayelsa State” because of his good works and highly commendable worthy legacies.

It is a generally known and agreed fact that he has shocked and overwhelmed Bayelsans and other observers with so many remarkable results in the areas of roads, bridges, education, health, sports, human capital development that even his hitherto worst critics are now his worthy Prosperity Ambassadors.

The humility, unassuming nature, compassionate disposition towards the needy, downtrodden and all those who are suffering from different forms of social disabilities and his passion towards the unity, peace, growth and development of Bayelsa State and by extension, the entire Ijaw Nation helps to disarm even his worst critics.

So, as we ponder and even continue our self-imposed research about the mystery surrounding his personality, our discovery and understanding of his generational leadership and his intentional and very deliberate stance and commitment to the adequate development of Bayelsa State will help to reduce our curiosity.

In concluding this piece, I wish to thank Gov. Douye Diri again and again for yielding positively to the diplomatic spirit of High Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye, the intellectual and developmental spirit of Chief (Sen.) Dr. Melford Obiene Okilo and the brave and fearless spirit of Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro.

Gov. Douye Diri shall finish very strong by the special grace of God.
