Gov Eno Mourns With Senator Enang Over Transition Of Mother In-Law
The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has condoled with the family of Senator Ita Solomon Enang, over the transition to glory of his mother-in-law, Late Mrs Agnes Charles Ebong.
Joining a crowd of well-wishers during the funeral ceremony recently, at the Lott Carey Baptist Mission Convention Ground, Afaha Obio Eno, Ibiono Ibom, the governor acknowledged that the Late Mrs Agnes Ebong had finished her race and was departing to her own house.
Gov Umo Eno urged Senator Ita Enang and other family members to take consolation that the Late Mrs Agnes Charles was a true soldier of the Cross who served God diligently and sacrificially.
“Although she lived long enough to see your dear wife, Dr Mrs Rosemary Ita Enang and her siblings, adhering to the virtues that were nurtured in them, I urge the entire family to continue to uphold those values she examplified while she was here with us”, Eno said.
While praying that God should grant the soul of Mother Agnes Charles a peaceful repose in Abraham’s bosom, Gov Umo Eno encouraged the family to carry on with her good works even as they shall all meet at the resurrection morning.
Also speaking at the burial ceremony, Senator Ita Enang paid tribute to his late mother-in-law, describing her as a devoted mother, mentor, and church leader who played a significant role in raising her family and contributing to the growth of the Lord Carey Baptist Ministry and Schools.
He praised her selflessness, patience, and commitment to her family and community, noting that her legacy will live on through the impact she had on her family and society.
His words, “We consider it a rare privilege that God gave us to you to raise in the diverse ways that life happened to us, each and all. You selflessly executive God’s commission with patience, commitment, passion, love, forbearance and care towards us all that saw us and our respective families to such heights.
“As a mother, mentor and church leader, you saw the advent of the Lord Carey Baptist Ministry and Schools, and you partnered with your dear husband, The Reverend Charles Ebong of blessed memory and saw the ministry grow to world standard, raising men today, outstanding in society.
“You saw the larger Ebong as clan moulding their tendencies to an enviable united society which has stood the clan out as the dynasty that personified Afaha Obio Eno.
“You way neither sickly nor frailed, you were active and ebullient in pursuit of daily chores only to be surprised at diagnosis which were addressed, yet you still stayed along too far.
“Mama, fare thee well, we treasure your memories. Rest well, assured that we will live a honoured life to please God and treasure your impartations. Mma, good night till we meet in eternity.”
In her biography read by the family, Late Deaconess Agnes Charles Ebong was a shining example of a virtuous woman, who practised all the talents that she received from the Lord in all stages of her life as a child, maiden, wife, mother, grandmother and great grand mother.
The strict disciplinarian will be remembered for her spirit of contentment and pius christian life.
