Gov Okpebholo Speaks At Edo State Global Investment Summit In Glasgow
The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and practical governance at the Edo State Global Investment Summit in Glasgow.
Highlighting reforms in EdoGIS, the Governor revealed that upon assumption of office, billions were being paid monthly to a consultant while Edo professionals were sidelined.
He explained that as an IT expert, he backed up the state’s data and terminated the contract, enabling the state to now manage its own upgraded system with young Edo professionals taking on core technical roles.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that Edo has always been a land of heritage and innovation, from the brilliance of the ancient bronze works to the creativity of its young people.
He noted that Edo State is open for business, stressing that the state is seeking partnerships rather than charity.
Providing updates on infrastructural development, the Governor announced that in just eight months, over 68 schools have been renovated and that work is ongoing on a 36km road to Gelegele in preparation for the proposed seaport.
He concluded by stating that the future of Edo is not something to wait for but something to be created through deliberate action and practical governance, assuring that every naira of Edo’s resources would be dedicated to the development of the state.
