Governor Willie Obiano’s Security Transformation In Anambra State

The war on insecurity swiftly begun and already won by Governor Willie Obiano. Lest we forget in a hurry the foundation of the peace the people of Anambra State are manifestly enjoying today and how the ultimate foundation was laid by a certain man of vision and mission, or get distracted by the tricky dimension assumed by Tenant opposition parties.

Governor Willie Obiano’s Light up projects is seen by rational thinkers as a game changer which helps to discourage petty crimes that usually Fester under the cover of darkness, the state capital ( Awka) and other rural Communities are now crime free courtesy of the street light initiative.

So far, over two thousand kilometers of roads have been covered across all the three senatorial zones in the street light projects. It covered selected Streets and major ways in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi metropolis.

Nnewi in Anambra South was among the first to benefit from the project with the famous Orizu Road going live before others. Severally, other roads are being fitted with street lights in Anambra South at the moment. Now, Ndi Anambra South Senatorial district can engage in numerous economic activities at night without being robbed by miscreants.

In Anambra Central, the entire stretch of the Boromeo roundabout to Amansea at the border between Anambra and Enugu has been covered with street lights to enhance security. All the roads in the seven Local Government in all areas are illuminating at night with street lights.

In Anambra North, the stretch from Oye- agu Abagana to Awkuzu Express and from Awkuzu – Nteje- Umueri- Aguleri- Umuoba Anam roads has been effectively covered as well as most roads at Onitsha, Ogbaru, Anambra East, Oyi amongst others. The effort of the State Government is commendable using light up projects as a weapon against insecurity.

A critical review of the steps towards the creation of Anambra where peace is reigning supreme will help us appreciate the journey so far in the security sector. It will help Ndi Anambra appreciate and keep at pace the gratitude to a man who maintained a peaceful state for us Ndi Anambra to be able to sleep with two eyes closed and rest in peace rather in pieces.

Surely, people can now sleep, wake and do business in peace. It did not happen by chance. Never by luck, but by a premeditated and tactical planned operation by a Leader or more appropriately, a shepherd leading the sheep by example.

 While the state came under attack by hoodlums sponsored by enemies of good era shortly after his swearing-in ceremony, the governor equally then working round the clock to see that the menace, were flushed out with the Launching of OPERATION KPOCHAPU 1 & 2 which helped in guaranteeing the security and well-being of the masses.

Indeed, the launching of OPERATION KPOCHAPU yielded position results as Anambra State has taken back her pride of place as the most secure, peaceful and environmentally-friendly state for business.

Succinctly looking at the security reforms taken by the Obiano administration, since it inception one wouldn’t be surprised why the Government has been excelling, technically and tactically. The course charted by Akpokuedike global depicts a master stroke of a visionary leader who not only wields the political will but also actively willing to deploy the will into something productive.

Foremost among these reforms and measures are the security reform Committee, Empowerment and retraining of the state vigilante group, and series of meetings held with security consultants and concerned Community stakeholders.

While the above was ongoing, Obiano further swung into action by procuring hundred of first class home-made innoson vehicles, modern security gadgets including surveillance cameras and other dictators as a measure of living up to his promises of securing the lives and properties of the citizens.

The Empowerment of the conventional security agencies has added to his guarantee. We all saw how happy the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Air Force, the Federal Road Safety Commission and host of others were in October 2019, the day Gov. Obiano distributed the brand new security gadgets and logistics to them.

It will be ungrateful of us not to commend the visionary farsighted and in-depth efforts of this administration. All that is needed and expected of us is to support the APGA administration as it moves towards lifting the state to an enviable height.
