Former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Unai Emery has agreed to work under Arsenal’s transfer structure.

Express Sport understands the Gunners will appoint the former PSG manager later this week.

Emery left PSG earlier this month, despite landing the domestic treble with the Ligue 1 side. Arsenal have opted for Emery, 46, over former Gunners star Mikel Arteta, who is currently a coach at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

It’s claimed Arteta snubbed the chance to manage his former side, with the Spaniard having concerns over Arsenal’s summer transfer budget.

And according to the Daily Mirror, Unai Emery will have transfers done for him, with the ex-PSG boss not having a say in their plans. The Gunners will stick to their £50m summer transfer budget following two seasons of missing out on the Champions League.

The Mirror added that Arsenal want at least one centre-back this summer, with Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis Papastathopoulos eyed. Shkodran Mustafi could be sold to make way for the Dortmund defender. Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno is also a top target, with Arsenal looking to replace Petr Cech, 36.

The Mirror also said that the Gunners plan to land a midfielder, but Emery may have a say in the deal. Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat will be the mastermind behind the Gunners’ transfers this summer.

Ian Wright has been vocal on Unai Emery heading to the Emirates, with the Gunners hero claiming the ex-PSG manager must adapt quickly to life in the Premier League.

He said: “Emery has had loads of money to spend at Paris Saint-Germain.

“Now he has to come to Arsenal with £50m with a bunch of players who have been playing in second gear.

“His coaching ability will have to get going instantly and he will have to find some gems instantly.”
