Hon. Chike Okafor Engages The Youths & Other Stakeholders On Peaceful Co-existence

Posted on October 31, 2020

The member representing the good people of Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, has began a pacifying consultation across youth groups in the 74 communities of Okigwe South Federal Constituency, where he represents. This move, according to him, has become necessary sequel to the recent uprising across the country.

It did not come as a surprise, however, to those who know the ace banker turned legislator and his people-centric brand of politics, that the young legislator has opted to be at home, with his people, at this time, rather than in Abuja or anywhere else.

The media was awash, in the last 48 hours, with the effort he made to secure the release of some innocent youths of his constituency, who were among those arrested by the Police, in the ongoing manhunt for the hoodlums that hijacked peaceful protests in Imo State and resorted to brazen violence and wanton arson.

Hon. Chike Okafor, during his interaction with Umuokeh, Obowo, youths, assured them of his continued support, which is only on the condition that they remain law abiding. He also showered encomiums on Obowo youths for not only shunning all forms of violence during the protest, but also for uniting to repel invaders who had succeeded in their mayhem in the neighbouring LGAs.

He also stated that part of this pacifying move is to get the youths ready for his annual empowerment programme as well as the ongoing empowerment programme of the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma.

The meeting was completely informal and interactive and Hon. Okafor stated clearly that this move will reach the nooks and crannies of the entire constituency because peace is a panacea for development.
