Posted on April 12, 2023

Earlier yesterday, the dutiful lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), attended the stakeholders meeting held at Ashafa Street, Yakoyo, Ojodu LCDA, to signify the commencement of the street’s road construction.

It would be recalled that Hon. Kasunmu facilitated the Ashafa/Obafunmilayo road construction as one of his Constituency Projects for 2023. The news of the project approval came from Lagos State Government late last week.

Yesterday’s stakeholders meeting was convened at the instance of Hon. Kasunmu for the purpose of  introducing the handlers of the project to the community so as to create a seamless synergy between them.

At the meeting, the leaders and residents of the community gave Hon. ARK a rousing welcome. They commended him for bringing the dream of Ashafa road construction to a reality, describing him as “Mr. talk and do”. They further appealed to him to include the opening of the Close on the extended end of Obafunmilayo Street to connect Adebowale Street, as part of the project.

In his response, Hon. Kasunmu thanked the community for their patience so far and appreciated the construction Engineers for the competence and professionalism demonstrated so far, even before the commencement of the project. While tasking them to expedite work and deliver a durable, high quality road, Hon. Kasunmu urged the community to give the contractors all necessary cooperation.

He directed the Engineers to look into requests on linking the Close part of the area to Adebowale Street.
Hon. Kasunmu also gave assurances on attracting more projects to the Constituency as time goes by.

Present at the meeting were the Councillor representing Ojodu LCDA Ward F, Hon. Olumide Akinade, (who initially stood in for Hon. ARK before his arrival and also coordinated the event perfectly); Apex leader Alhaji Oladapo Atinsola;  Baale of Yakoyo, Chief Jamiu Amore; CDC Chairman, Elder Abiona; APC Ward F Chairma, Mr. Lawal;    Iyalode of Yakoyo, Alhaja Omitogun;, Hon. Mrs Olanike Adebayo; Olori Lola Bashorun; Hon. Toki;  Yakoyo CDA Chairman, Chief Shokenu, CDC Secretary, Comrade Deji Adebayo (who spoke impressively on behalf of the Ashafa/Obafunmilayo community) and many other dignitaries.

The community youth leader of Yakoyo, Comrade Adeleke (Oosha), in company with Bimbo Ashafa, assured the contractors of hitch-free and peaceful project execution in the community.

Machinery and other materials have already been moved to the site and work will start any moment from now.

The project engineers, led by Engr. Lawal thanked Hon. Kasunmu for facilitating the project and for personally attending the meeting. He promised to deliver the project on record time.

In his vote of thanks, Alhaji Atinsola congratulated the community for this laudable development and also commended Hon. ARK for being a good listener and for keeping his promises.
