Host Community Calls Out Ingentia Energies Limited Over Alleged Neglect & Deprivation

Posted on June 20, 2025

With deep-seated grievances, community members from the oil and gas host community affected by the operations of Ingentia Energies Limited in Egbolom oilfield, OML 23, have called out the company over alleged neglect and deprivation over the years.

Speaking to the media on Thursday 19th June, 2025, on behalf of the community, Mr. Okulu Honest, an indigene and entrepreneur in the Oil and Gas Host Community, said that Ingentia Energies Limited has treated the community with utter disdain.

On behalf of the embittered members of Egbolom Community, Abua/Odua LGA, Rivers State, Mr. Okulu stated, “Our concerns stem from the company’s egregious actions, which have resulted in:

  1. Deprivation: Ingentia Energies Limited has deprived us of economic opportunities by failing to engage host community contractors.
  2. Intimidation: The company’s actions have created an atmosphere of intimidation, making it difficult for us to assert our rights.
  3. Marginalization: We have been marginalized and excluded from participating in the economic benefits of your operations.
  4. Neglect: Ingentia Energies Limited has neglected its responsibilities towards the host community, violating our human rights and dignity.
  5. Violation of Human Rights: The company’s actions constitute a blatant violation of our human rights, including the right to economic development and participation.
  6. Exclusion: We have been unfairly excluded from procurement opportunities, despite being qualified and capable of providing essential services.

Non Compliance with the Community Content Guidelines Section 4.3 paragraph (i), (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v):

Ingentia Energies Limited has grossly violated the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and Community Content Guidelines. These regulations clearly mandate that oil and gas operators:

– Make procurement decisions in favor of host community contractors.

– Ensure that at least 30% of procurement opportunities are accessed by entrepreneurs of the host community.

– Allow host community contractors to form alliances with established vendors for the supply of critical items.

False Claims

We have taken note of Ingentia Energies Limited’s claim that it has engaged 25 local community contractors. This assertion is patently false and misleading. If such engagement were genuine, Donesty Global Resources Limited, a qualified host community contractor with expertise in crude evacuation trucking/barging and equipment leasing services, would have been among the engaged contractors among other unengaged contractors in the host community.

Demands

In light of these grievances, we demand that Ingentia Energies Limited:

  1. Terminate Contracts: Immediately terminate any contracts related to our area of business interest.
  2. Re-award Contracts: Re-award these contracts to Donesty Global Resources Limited related to our area of business interest and qualifications and re-award other services to the other contractors who are the authentic host community contractors with immediate effect.”

“We insist that Donesty Global Resources Limited is qualified and capable of providing the required services in your operations in Egbolom oilfield.”

“We expect prompt action without delay to address these concerns and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Failure to do so will lead to further actions” the community concluded.
