Housewife, 40, Sent To Prison For Stabbing Neighbour With Bottle During Public Brawl 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Muda Street, Agodo Egbe area of Ikotun, Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect used a refuse dump bag to block the complainant’s door, which caused a disagreement between them. And in the process, it degenerated into physical fighting before they were separated.

However, the next day, the suspect targeted the victim, broke a bottle and attempted to stab him on the neck but missed it and it landed on his chest and injured him.

He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital while the matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. She was then arrested and detained at the station for her alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged assault, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 26th March, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
