Housewife Arrested For Slitting Husband’s Throat While He Was Asleep

A man, Salisu Suleiman, is lying critically ill at a Specialist Hospital in Niger State after his wife, Halima Salisu, allegedly used a kitchen knife to slit his throat while he was asleep at night over a disagreement. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st November, 2025, at Kuta area of the headquarters of Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.
Apart from slitting his throat, the wife, Halima also used the knife to stab and damage his left eye in the process. The victim was said to have bled profusely before he was rushed to the hospital for emergency attention.
Police operatives have arrested the victim’s wife and detained her for the alleged attempted murder under the Criminal Law of the State.
The cause of the disagreement was not disclosed by the Police, who alleged the suspect to have targeted her husband while he was sleeping and attempted to kill him.
This was disclosed by the PPRO of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect now in custody undergoing interrogation over her alleged conduct.
“On 1st November, 2025, at about 2:30 am, one Salisu Suleiman of Kuta allegedly had a misunderstanding with his wife, Halima Salisu, and while the husband was asleep, the wife used a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on the husband’s neck and also allegedly damaged his left eye,” Abiodun stated.
He added, “The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Kuta, and later referred to IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, for medical attention”.
“However, the suspect is in custody for further investigation and prosecution.”
The Police stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations.
