A 37-year old housewife, Patience Ezeokonkwo, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace for allegedly recording a man, Chibuzor Joseph, on video and sending text messages to him.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Unity Street, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, while the complainant, Joseph, was going to his site.

Following the alleged video recording and text messages, Joseph went to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division and reported that Mrs. Patience Ezeokonkwo was threatening his life and family including recording him and his friend,  Augustine Ndubueze.

Thus, the Police arrested Patience Ezeokonkwo and detained her at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

During interrogation, the complainant brought out the text messages Patience sent to him through her WhatsApp phone number.

But the complainant did not disclose how she got his phone number to which she sent the messages and how he knew that her husband was in Edo State.

However, the Police found Patience culpable for the alleged offence under the Criminal laws of the State.

She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 7th October, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
