Housewife Sent To Prison For Battering Husband During Squabble

A 45-year old housewife, Ebere Josephine Ugwu, has landed in trouble for displaying her prowess by battering her husband, Edwin Ugwu and inflicting injury on him during a fight in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Lambe Iluyomade Street, Ago Okota area of Lagos, where they reside.
She has been arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged assault.
According to the Police, Mrs. Ebere had a disagreement with her husband over an undisclosed matter, which resulted into both engaging in physical combat.
During the fight, Mrs. Ebere reportedly grabbed her husband, beat him mercilessly, broke a bottle and inflicted serious injury on his palm. He was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police. She was subsequently arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her conduct.
After thoroughly interrogating him, the Police found her culpable for battering the victim in such manner and still went ahead to inflict injury on him. She was then charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified.
The matter was adjourned till 6th June, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
