How 24Telemed is Bridging Medical Gap In Africa

Posted on July 22, 2025

24Telemed, is no doubt one of the largest telemedicine service providers in Nigeria now.

It is distinguished by its transformative interventions in rural healthcare, groundbreaking technological solutions, well-trained personnel, and strategic partnerships that are redefining access to healthcare services across the country. What began as a direct response to the critical medical gaps in “hard-to-reach” communities in Anambra State has evolved into a nationwide success story, setting a formidable model in healthcare delivery.

The telemedicine service was implemented in partnership with the Anambra State Ministry of Health to address the perennial shortage of medical personnel and specialists in the state’s hard-to-reach areas, a challenge that was further compounded by an increasing number of high-needs patients in these areas.

The Anambra State eHealth Service Soludo Care (ASES-S) program, launched by His Excellency Prof. Charles Soludo is one of the innovative solutions put in place since 2022 to provide affordable healthcare solutions to the citizens of the state.

The service to date provided virtual and telephonic medical care to over 20,000 citizens in rural community. Both patients and user feedback indicated high levels of satisfaction, highlighting the impact of the initiative.

The telemedicine service significantly improved nursing satisfaction at primary healthcare centers, eased patient access to specialists, and became a vital pillar of healthcare in communities where medical personnel were scarce.

At the core of 24Telemed’s success is a sophisticated two-tiered approach tailored to both rural and urban settings. In rural communities, the platform focuses not just on providing telemedicine services but also on continuous health education and proactive follow-ups, without waiting for patients to initiate contact. This approach has built trust within the communities and ensured consistent monitoring of health conditions.

Moreover, 24Telemed’s personnel, consisting of seasoned doctors and specialists, manage a broad spectrum of responsibilities. These include chronic disease management, second opinions, medication verification, referrals, care planning, real-time documentation, and family education. Their commitment extends to supporting and mentoring novice doctors, ensuring protocol compliance, and fostering a culture of continual learning and efficiency.

The healthcare teams in remote areas are further equipped with essential first aid, CPR, and AED training—empowering them to handle emergencies effectively before advanced help arrives.

Additionally, 24Telemed has become a preferred partner for private companies, offering services that reduce employee absenteeism and healthcare costs. Its reach is not confined to rural communities alone but extends to corporate wellness and workplace health management, further reinforcing its relevance in diverse sectors.
From its beginnings in Anambra to its footprints in surrounding rural communities and its corporate engagements, 24Telemed exemplifies how technology, skilled personnel, and strategic alliances can revolutionize healthcare delivery.

Today, 24Telemed stands out as a formidable blueprint for transforming rural and urban healthcare landscapes in Nigeria and beyond, clearly proving that innovation, when aligned with purpose, can bridge critical medical gaps in the community.
