How Dispatch Rider Bolted Away With N34m Medical Equipment

Police operatives from Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, have arrested a dispatch rider, Matthew Owochotie Adoche, who allegedly bolted away with medical equipment worth over N34m given to him to deliver by a Medical Doctor, Dr Ajefolakemi John. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Adoche, collected the items meant for delivery and ran away before the Police trailed, eventually arrested him in Benue State and part of the items were recovered as exhibits by the Police.

 

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ayuba Umma, who confirmed the arrest and recovery of the goods during the operation.

 

She explained that One Ajefolakemi John ‘m’ (a Medical Doctor) of Iloromu Quarters Ile-Ife, Osun State, reported that he contacted one Matthew Owochotie Adoche ‘m’ (a dispatch rider) on the 15/04/2025 to deliver medical equipment from Ikotun and Ikeja Lagos to Idumota for onward delivery to a client in Zamfara State.

 

“The petitioner alleged that the said Matthew Adochie made away with all the medical equipment and has since been out of reach as all efforts to reach him proved abortive and all his phone lines turned off.”

 

“The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Lagos detailed the officer-in-charge Zonal Anti-Crime Unit and his team for discreet investigation.”

“The investigating team swung into action and were able to discover the suspect’s location in Adoka Community, Benue State. Thereafter, the team proceeded on investigation activities to Benue State, where the suspect was arrested in his hideout at Ugbokpo Community. Upon the arrest, all the items were recovered except the Mindray DP 10 Laptop-Ultrasound valued ₦3,400,000.00k which was sold for ₦1,000,000.00k to one Chukwudi Eyinaya ‘m’ of Mushin Area, Lagos.”

“Upon questioning, he confessed that having sold the ultrasound-laptop, he kept the remaining items with his sister in Ihiala area of Anambra State before relocating to Adoka, Benue State, where he was arrested.”

 

The recovered items included:

1. Mindray SV 300 Laptop Ventilator XI

2. Mindray 3-part Hematology Analyzer XI

3. Mindray Patient Monitor X2

4. Patient Monitor Trolley X2

5. Zoncare 12 lead ECG XI

6. Mindray DP 10 Laptop Ultrasound XI

 

“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation by the Police” she stated.
