A 34-year old man, Gbenga Owoyemi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging a 17-year old girl into sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Owoyemi, has been arrested and charged for defilement over his alleged conduct against the victim.

The incident happened on 2nd  February, 2026, around Ijaiye Ojokoro, Jankara Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim to his apartment and engaged her in sex. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go.

However, the information leaked to her parents and the victim confirmed that the suspect engaged her in sex.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, Gbenga Owoyemi ‘m’, sometime on the 2nd day of February, 2026, at about 1730hours, around Ijaiye Ojokoro, Jankara Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did allegedly defile the victim ‘f 17years old, by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
