How Man, 23, Stabbed Childhood Friend To Death Over Pure Water

A 23-year old man, Abdulazeez Abubakar, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his 20-year-old childhood friend, Sadiq Sani, to death over satchet water for ablusion in preparation for a Muslim prayer in Niger State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that both the suspect and the deceased were childhood friends and resided along Adamawa Road in Dutsen-Kura-Hausa Area of Minna, the Niger State capital.
The suspect and the deceased were said to have had a disagreement over satchet water, popularly known as pure water, intended for ablution during preparations for the Maghrib prayer.
According to a resident, what initially appeared to be a minor misunderstanding escalated into a violent confrontation and during the altercation, the suspect allegedly drew a sharp object and stabbed the victim.
The victim was said to have bled profusely due to severe injuries he sustained. And despite desperate efforts to save his life, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
The matter was reported to the Police. The suspect was then arrested and detained for alleged murder under the Criminal Laws of the State.
This was disclosed by the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspect undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
“The suspect had already been arrested and is under investigation.”
Abiodun stated: “On 17/12/2025 at about 7.40pm, report indicated that there was a fight at Dutsen-Kura between one Abdulazeez Abubakar, 23years, and Sadiq Sani, 20years, both of Dutsen-Kura Minna, which led to the death of Sani.”
“Police operatives from the GRA Division rushed to the scene, and arrested Abubakar. The incident is under investigation and the suspect will soon be transferred to the SCID, Minna for further necessary action.” he stated.
The suspect will likely be charged for murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
