Police operatives from the Kano State Command have arrested a man, Jabir Mu’azu Gwarzo, for allegedly killing his wife, Maryam Isa and cutting her body into parts for ritual purposes.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the alleged money rituals eventually failed after he was arrested by the Police operatives of the State Command for the alleged dastardly act. But by then he had already killed the wife.
He was subsequently charged before Magistrate Court sitting in Rano, Kano State and remanded in correctional center over the alleged murder of his wife, late Maryam Isa.
The defendant was re-arraigned before the court by the Kano State Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, on a charge of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
During the proceedings, the prosecution told the court that the alleged offence was committed in Gwarzo village, where the accused allegedly killed his wife and removed parts of her body.
The state counsel presented three witnesses — Abubakar Alkasim, Shehu Hasan and Yau Kabir — who testified in support of the charge.
The presiding judge, Justice Halima Nasir, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre pending further hearing and adjourned the matter till 19th June, 2026, for  continuation of proceedings.
The defendant risks several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment for the alleged offence if found guilty by the Court.
