A 29-year old man, Suleiman Adamu, has been arrested alongside his friend, Ahmadu Umaru Gambo, 26, for allegedly abducting and gang raping Adamu uncle’s pregnant wife.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Machimim community in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where both suspects reside with the victim’s husband.
Their arrest followed a report to the Adamawa State Police Command over the dastardly act. The Police moved into action, apprehended the two suspects and detained them for interrogation over their conduct.
This was disclosed by the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed that they were in Police custody undergoing interrogation for conspiracy and rape.
According to the Police, Adamu had informed his friend, Gambo, about his love for his uncle’s wife and his intention to have sex with her before they perfected plans on how to achieve it.
The suspects allegedly perfected their evil plan on how to invade the house at night after they were informed that her husband had travelled. They wore face masks, armed themselves with a cutlass and stormed the house by 11:00pm as armed robbers.
They broke into the apartment, forced the first wife to lie face down and whisked away the second wife, who was their target. They dragged her to a valley in the area and despite the fact that she was pregnant, stripped her naked and gang-raped her.
Having satisfied themselves, they abandoned her there and escaped. But unknown to them, while they were having sex with her one after the other, she was able to identify Gambo, who is their neighbour.
The matter was reported to the Police. The suspects were arrested on 19th February, 2023 and detained for interrogation, where they reportedly confessed to committing the crime on Tuesday, 21st February, 2023.
The Police spokesperson, Nguroje, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, had ordered that the matter be transferred to SCID for further investigation and immediate prosecution.
The suspects risk several years of imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
