The security intelligence team at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos has apprehended a man, Adeola Ikuomala, who allegedly recruited himself as a DSS officer, resumed work and was using the fake status to extort innocent people at the airport before he was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ikuomala, procured a DSS identity card and service warrant and then resumed work at the airport.
However, he was caught in the act after he was accosted and he presented DSS documents to show that he was actually a DSS personnel. But on routine check, it was discovered that he was fake and was immediately arrested and detained for further investigation.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted that he was not a member of the DSS but procured the documents to induce innocent people at the airport to earn a living.
He was found culpable and subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for impersonation.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till for mention.
