A clergyman, Pastor Chris McDouglas Omosokpea, of Peculiar Generation Assembly Church, located at No.17/19 Mututiatu Kayode Street off Ayodele Street, Mafoluku area of Oshodi, Lagos, who is facing  charge for rape of his member’s teen daughter, has secretly sold his church and fled to an unknown place.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Pastor Chris McDouglas was absent in Court on Tuesday when the case came up before the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, at Ogba Magistrates Court, Lagos, while the complainant and some members of his Church were present before the matter was adjourned till 21st April, 2021, for report of the DPP’s advice.

Pastor Douglas, who is very popular in the area, had allegedly sexually abused a 14-year old girl for the past four years before he was arrested and charged before the Court for defilement, which attracts life imprisonment.

The incident affected his personality and he was said not to be able to bear the shame the incident brought to him and his family including the church and so he decided to sell the Church without informing his members.

Though he was granted bail on health grounds before the Lagos High Court, he was still facing the charge before the Ogba Magistrates Court over the act pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

The Pastor’s decision to dispose the Church shocked his members, who went to the Church only to see that the structure had been pulled down by the new buyer, who may likely put up a residential building in the place.

Some members of the Church expressed their shock over the manner in which he sold the Church without informing the remaining members, who he had convinced that he was innocent of the allegation of defilement.

Before he was arrested, Pastor Douglas was said to have held the victim with fake prophecies and she kept the abuses away from her parents, who had been members of the Church for over 12 years, with strong belief that Pastor Douglas was a real man of God.

However, the bubble burst after the girl was no longer able to bear it as she started threatening to commit suicide over the trauma and she was persuaded to open up on what she was passing through.
It was then she opened up and told her parents that Pastor Douglas had abused her for the past four years and instilled fear into her not to tell anyone.

Shocked by the revelations, the matter was reported to the Police, who later arrested and charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.
