How School Fence Fell On Top Of 3 Victims & 2 Died Following Heavy Rainfall

It was a sad experience in Lagos State as a school fence fell on three residents and killed two of them while the remaining victim was said to be in critical condition following a heavy rainfall.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident at Apano Street, off Nurudeen Obe Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos.

 

The victims were identified as Amaka, 30, Etim, 28 and Emmanuel, 12. While Amaka was said to have survived and lying critically ill at the hospital, the remaining two victims died as the result of injuries they sustained during the incident.

 

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the death of the victims in the hospital.

He stated that on 12th October, 2024, a distress call was received by the Police at Ejigbo Division that the school fence collapsed and fell on three victims while they were walking home during a rainfall.

He stated that as a result,  the victims sustained serious injury and became unconscious. They were rescued and rushed to Isolo General Hospital for treatment.

 

While they were at the hospital, Etim and Emmanuel were confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty. While the last victim, Amaka, is receiving treatment at Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi.

 

SP Hundeyin stated that based on the report,  the team of Police detectives visited the scene and the hospitals where the victims were rushed for treatment.

 

He stated that the corpses were deposited at the mortuary for autopsy reports while the investigation is ongoing over the unfortunate incident.

 

Meanwhile, the Police have not revealed if the management of the school has been invited or arrested over the incident said to have been caused by lack of maintenance as the fence was said to be weak due to number of years it was built.
