It was the end of the road for a couple, Mr. Godday Samuel and his wife, Ebere Samuel, who was alleged to be into human trafficking business after they attempted to traffic a 16-year old girl abroad and were caught in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the couple is now in Police net for human trafficking after their arrest by Police operatives on 17th October, 2022, for human trafficking.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Police Command Spokesperson, SP. Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the two are in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their conduct.
According to the Command’s spokesman, the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Atan Ota Divisional Headquarters by one Adeniji Okikiolu.
The complainant reported that his 16 years old daughter, Maria Adeniji, suddenly disappeared from home on 16th October, 2022, and while a search party was organised to look for her, he was informed by someone that the missing girl was seen with Ebere Samuel the previous day.
He added that upon the information, Ebere Samuel was invited to the station but she vehemently denied ever seeing the missing girl on or before that day. She was detained and the confession of her husband gave them away.
The husband, Godday Samuel, confessed to have taken the missing Maria to somewhere in Lagos for onward transportation to Burkina Faso, where she will be engaged as a maid to one of their associates.
The Police spokesperson added that preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had been into the business of human trafficking for sometime now and that their accomplices are in Burkina Faso.
He stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of the investigation by the Police.
