A 33-year-old man, Mr Gabriel Volts, arrested for allegedly beheading his 20 months old son, has confessed to the Police at the Delta State Command that he needed money seriously and had to cut off the boy’s head for ritual purposes.

PMEXPRESS reports that the suspect, Volts, made the confessions at the Delta State Police Command during interrogation after he was arrested following a report by his wife.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed that the incident happened at a bush in Etinabobo area of  Edo State, where the Police recovered the severed body parts of the boy as exhibits and kept in the mortuary for autopsy report.

DSP Bright Edafe stated that the suspect, Volts, took his son from his wife and secretly went to Etinabobo bush in Edo State, where he used a hand saw to cut off the little boy’s head and buried the remaining parts of his body inside the bush by a palm tree.

The suspect was arrested after the child went missing, and the suspect lied to the wife that their son was with his sister in Warri, which turned out to be false. That prompted the wife to be suspicious, so she reported to the Police and the suspect was  promptly arrested and detained for interrogation before he confessed to the alleged crime’.

The suspect risks life imprisonment or death sentence as punishment for the alleged wilfully murder of the boy. But that will be after the conclusion of investigations, arraignment before the Court and being found guilty for the alleged offence.
