A man, Suleiman Abdulfatai, has pleaded with the Court in Kwara State that he was not ready to divorce his wife, Balikis, because he is still in love with her despite the misunderstanding between them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled husband, Suleiman begged an Area Court in Ilorin not to grant his wife, Balikis’ request to dissolve their marriage because he wanted to settle their rift.
He pleaded with the Court to grant him some time to settle the misunderstanding with his wife.
”I pray for a few weeks to enable me sort out the issues so that we move on with our marriage,” he pleaded.
However, petitioner, Balikis filed for the divorce on the ground that she no longer loved her husband because he beats her. She insisted on divorce in spite of her husband’s plea, saying that she had made up her mind to quit the marriage.
The Presiding Judge, Malam AbdulQadir Ibrahim, having listened to both parties, granted the prayer of Suleiman and stated:
”The Law allows time for settlement, especially when the partner has good intentions”.
”You have the remaining days of the month of May to try and settle the misunderstanding with your wife,” the judge held.
The judge adjourned the matter till 5th June, 2023, for the report of settlement or continuation of hearing with evidence and proof.
