I Went To The Mosque To Steal – Teenager Confesses To Police

A 19-year old, Ibrahim Yusuf, has confessed to the Police in Lagos State that he went to the Mosque to steal before he was eventually nabbed during the operation. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Yusuf, was apprehended on 20th March, 2026, at about 0620hrs at Idowu Anisere Street, Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos at Al- Bayern Central Mosque after he stole a phone belonging to Ayodele Ibrahim during worship.
He was caught and handed over to the Police at Ikotun Division. He was subsequently charged before the Court for the alleged stealing.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the Mosque and pretended to have gone to pray. And while the worship was going on, he stole the phone and tried to escape before he was apprehended.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, Ibrahim Yusuf ‘m’, On the 20th March, 2026, at about 0620hrs at Idowu Anisere Street, Governor Road, Ikotun, Lagos State, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did enter into Al- Bayern Central Mosque and committed felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 311 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Ibrahim Yusuf’m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal one Samsung A50 phone valued One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (N 160,000) during worship, property of one Ayodele Ibrahim ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
However, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since the defendant has pleaded guilty to enable the Court to sentenced him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss F.R Ogunkoyede, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos and adjourned pending when the prosecutor will present the facts and he will be sentenced accordingly.
