Igbo And Identity Crisis

The main issue confronting the average Igbo in Nigeria today is an identity crisis.
We have not taught our children that Igbo is not limited to geopolitical zone exclusive to the Southeast alone. When you mention Igbo, you’re talking about culture and ethnicity, both of which transcend political bounds of zones and regions.
Those who claim to be marginalized in Nigeria are eager to confine their focus to the Southeast and allege Igbo marginalization.
They do not take into account other Igbo origin from areas other than the Southeast, against whom we frequently discriminate.
The concerns of the Southeast have frequently been confused with those of the Igbo, which is largely not factual.
We need to distinguish between the Igbo as a culture and ethnic group and the Igbo of the Southeast, which is merely a political boundary and territory.
