Igbo Community Endorses Chief Ede Dafinone For Senate

As candidates of the political parties gradually begin their campaigns, the senatorial ambition of the All Progressive Congress, APC candidate for Delta State Central Senatorial zone, Chief Ede Dafinone, received a big boost following his recent endorsement by the Igbo community living in Delta State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the decision of the Igbo Community living in the Senatorial zone comprising Sapele,  Okpe,  Ethiope East and West, Ughelli North and South, Udu, Uvwie and others after a Town Hall meeting.
The meeting was attended by the amiable President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, including top personalities, captains of Industry and hundreds of Ndigbo in Delta State.
Chief Aguene stated that he travelled to Delta to attend the meeting, where the Igbo endorsed Chief Dafinone for his contributions to the welfare of people including Ndigbo in the larger society coupled with his philanthropist gesture to humanity.
Aguene explained that the Igbo decided to support him because he has demonstrated that he loves and he is passionate about the welfare of the people over the years and he needed to be in the Senate to impact more lives in the society. He stressed that if given the opportunity to be in the Red Chamber, he will perform wonders because of his passion for the people.
 “Chief Dafinone is the best choice for Urhobo in 2023 and that was why the Igbo in Delta Central decided to support his Senatorial ambition because he will give the people quality representation in the Senate if voted by the people” Aguene stated.
It is not only the Igbo community in Delta State that have endorsed Chief Ede Dafinone, the Urhobo community has as well endorsed him following a press release issued in Port Harcourt and jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Mr. Goodluck Edafe and National Secretary, Mr. Douogood Iwhiwhu.
The group appealed to Urhobo people to rise above the politics of garden egg and groundnut and face the reality of life by voting for competent and credible candidates that would make Urhobo proud at the Senate.
The group also noted that 2023 provides an opportunity for Urhobo to vote decent, purposeful and morally conscious men into Government.
They thanked Chief Ede Dafinone for yielding the call to join the race to rescue and rebuild Nigeria adding that in a situation where those given a repeated opportunity in the past had no tangible achievements to showcase, Chief Dafinone becomes a good alternative that Urhobo can trust for a better representation.
Chief Ede Dafinone is a technocrat. He is the Deputy Managing Partner of Crowe Dafinone, Chartered Accountants, based in Lagos, Nigeria. He started his career with Touche Ross & Co in London in 1984 and joined his family firm in 1989.
His experience spans audit and consultancy in a wide range of sectors including conglomerates, government parastatals, building contractors, manufacturing, transport and haulage contractors. He holds directorships of a number of companies including Sapele Integrated Industries Limited (crumb rubber export manufacturing and rubber plantation development), Ceddi Corporation Limited (development of a premier shopping mall in Abuja) and NEM Insurance Plc.
Chief Dafinone has held various public and other appointments. Among others, he served as a member of the Federal Government Steering Committee on the Determination and Resolution of Cross Debts between Public Enterprises in 2001.
Through the Dafinone foundation, Ede runs social and community projects to provide scholarships for post graduate education, disburse micro-credit loans to women and support the development of vocational skills within Delta State. Ede serves as the Chairman of the Sapele Okpe Community Land Trust Association and is the Treasurer of the Okpe Leaders of Thought. As a trustee of the Guild of Fine Artists Ede has supported the development of the growth of the fine arts in Nigeria.
Ede is the Chairman of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (2015 to date) and is also the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group (MANEG). Ede serves as the Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Members Advisory Board for Africa and is a Council member for the ICAEW having been appointed in June 2019.
Ede is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, (ICAEW) a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Taxation Institute of Nigeria. He has a BA (Hons) in Economics from Victoria University of Manchester and an MA in Economics from the University of Exeter.
