There is a twist over the crisis in the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos following a petition to the BOT against the status of Sunday Eze after he resigned from the community, conducted an election and Okenze Tochukwu Anadu emerged as his factional president.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Sunday Udeh has dumped his group and joined Chief Sunday Eze’s faction of the Igbo Speaking Community at the palace of Eze Christian Nwachukwu in Ago Okota, Lagos.
This was the outcome of the meeting held on Tuesday at the palace between Chief Eze and Chief Udeh, where he was duly admitted into the camp and his hands were raised up indicating acceptance by the group.
It was not yet clear why Chief Udeh decided to join Chief Eze’s faction despite the efforts the BOT of the Igbo Speaking community was making to restore peace and unite the factions in the community including Ndieze.
According to some members of the Igbo Speaking Community, it might be as a result of the petition written against Chief Eze after he stepped down for Chief Udeh as President during the BOT stakeholders meeting held in Surulere, Lagos.
In the petition signed by the faction to the Board of Trustees led by Dr Jonathan Nnaji disowing Chief Sunday Eze, who stepped down for Chief Sunday Udeh as President over the consent judgment, the group led by the acting president, Chief Charles Chukwu, informed the BOT that Chief Sunday Eze has since resigned from their group, conducted an election and swore in one Okenze Tochukwu Anadu as president.
The petition sent to the BOT was dated 26th July, 2025, signed by their acting President, Chief Charles Chukwu, Secretary, Prince Joshua Nnanna Kalu and Chairman of All Chairmen, Chief Chukwuemeka Obi on behalf of the group.
It stated: “We write as factional members and Stakeholders of the Igbo Speaking Community ably represented by our former factional President, Chief Sunday Eze”.
“We wish to express our indignation and automatically disassociate ourselves from the purported endorsement by Chief Sunday Eze because he seized being our member and the face of the faction having resigned from that position, conducted an election and constituted a parallel government at the Eze Anomneze’s Palace on the 06/07/2024 and swore in Chief Okenze Tochukwu Anadu as his own President, while he sat as the Apex Lender. Pictures of the ceremony fully attached.”
“We wish to state categorically that such ill-conceived plan has automatically rendered any of his involvement in the resolution of the consent Judgement null and void and of no effect because he seized being a representative of the other faction after the day and date of 06/07/2024.”
“It is based on the foregoing that members and Stakeholders of the faction that he initially represented has resolved to distance ourselves from such unfounded endorsement but wish to state that we stand strongly with the Board in their tedious work at bringing peace to the Community as well as support them on the ongoing peace process, which ultimately will lead to the conduct of a unified election to the body for the overall wellbeing of this association in Lagos State.” it stated.
What still baffles some members of the Igbo Speaking Community is which faction of the Igbo Speaking community did Chief Udeh join because it is apparent that there are two factions in Chief Sunday Eze’s camp, one headed by the elected President, Chief Okenze Tochukwu Anadu and another led by Chief Charles Chukwu.
It was not confirmed if Chief Udeh decided to dump his group with few loyalists following protest by some of his members including his Vice, Chief Ohamadike, former Director of his campaign, Prince Andymoore and many others who felt that Udeh offended their group upon all their support in the past.
When the BOT Chairman, Dr Jonathan Nnaji, was contacted, he said that he was not aware of such arrangement and the Igbo Speaking Community has their office at Surulere, Lagos.
Meanwhile, Eze Christian Nwachukwu has congratulated Chief Udeh for joining Chief Sunday Eze’s faction in his palace.
