It was a moment of excitement and joy at the Igbo Speaking Community Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos, when the two factions of the group embraced peace and held a unification party to mark the end of the four years crises in the Community in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the unity and end of the year party was organised by the Igbo Speaking Community’s president,  Chief Sunday Udeh, in conjunction with his Deputy, Chief Charles Chukwu and members of executives of the factions who have come together to move the community forward.

Those in attendance were the BOT members led by Dr Jonathan Nnaji, the oldest Ezendigbo in Lagos State, after Eze Hycient Ohazuruike, Eze Anthony Elui, members of Council of Ezendigbo led by Eze Chika Nwokedi while some of members of the other Council of Ndieze led by Eze Agbowodikeizu Nwalozie were said to be unavoidably absent.

Hundreds of members across the Local Councils in the State were also in attendance including men, women and their leaders with their traditional dance groups at the event organized under the committee Chairman, Chief Ben Obi.

Speaking at the meeting/party,  Chief Sunday Udeh stated that Igbo Speaking Community has come to make a clear statement that there is no faction in the community.

He explained that he realized that a divided Igbo Speaking community had done the members no good because as President, there are certain things he would have done but due to the crisis it was not possible and he started to move to unite the community.

He noted that now the community has come together, he was aware that the BOT will conduct election that will usher in the new Executives in the Community.

He explained that the peace was achievable due to the sacrifice of the Executives and members of the factions made to ensure that the Community is one under one leadership.

He explained that the arrangement now is that he is the president while Chief Sunday Eze’s Deputy in his faction, Chief Chukwu is now his Deputy and all the other Executives members have come together.

He thanked the members including the BOT,  traditional rulers and Executives, who have made it possible for the peace to be achieved and stated that very soon,  election will be conducted by the BOT, which will bring lasting peace to the Igbo Speaking community.

The BOT Chairman, Dr Jonathan Nnaji, also commended the efforts being made for the peace initiative and urged members to embrace peace including the Council of Ndieze so that there will be a united Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State.

He explained that what has delayed the conduct of election was the litigation before the Federal High Court and explained that the parties have agreed for consent judgment.

He assured that the community will conduct election very soon after the conclusion of the Court matter, which will come to an end with the consent judgment and urged the members to continue to maintain peace in the Community.

Eze Nwokedi expressed satisfaction that the community was making progress in the peace initiative and called all members including Ndieze to come together so that Igbo Speaking community will speak with one voice.

He assured that he will do anything possible to ensure that there will be peace in the Community including a united Council of Ndieze in Lagos State.

Some of the members who spoke at the event expressed satisfaction that peace has gradually returned to the community and looking forward that the Community will return to the old glory in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the executives and members of the factional President, Chief Sunday Eze, dumped him and he ran to Eze Christian Nwachukwu with few members, in Okota, where Nwachukwu collapsed them into his own Igbo Community, which marked the end of the era of Chief Sunday Eze in Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State.
