The planned joint meeting of Ndieze of the Igbo Speaking Community and Ohanaeze Ndigbo has suffered a setback as the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Igbo Speaking Community has disassociated itself from the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 17th March, 2026, at Ohanaeze Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Director of Media and Publicity of BOT, Chief Cyriacus Izuekwe in a statement and further stated that the BOT through their Chairman, Dr Jonathan Nnaji, has as well directed the Council of Ezendigbo Lagos State led by Eze Sir Ephraim Nnaemeka not to participate or send any representative to the meeting.
The statement read:
“IGBO SPEAKING COMMUNITY, LAGOS OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Board of Trustees of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, led by Dr Jonathan Nnaji, has been informed by Eze Ephraim, Acting Chairman of Council of Eze Ndigbo, Lagos, of a joint meeting requesting representation of five Ndieze from the Council for the meeting.
“The Board has advised the Council of Eze Ndigbo not to participate in this meeting, as it is not sanctioned by the Board. The Board therefore, dissociates itself from this meeting and its proceedings.”
The reasons for the Board to disassociate itself from the meeting was not ascertained as at the time of filing this report. Some said it may be connected to how the meeting was convened without due consultation with the Council of Ndieze led by Eze Ephraim Nnaemeka.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the Council of Ezendigbo had an emergency meeting and agreed to comply with the directive of the BOT, which is the custodian of the Igbo Speaking Community empowered to crown Ezendigbo constitutionally through the Act of Parliament.
