It was a delight for Ijegun residents in the outskirts of Lagos as the youths, under the umbrella body of Ijegun Youth Forum, were able to demonstrate to the world that youthful strength is an essential tool in the community development project.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the youths came out in good numbers and embarked on environmental sanitation exercise to clean up their environment which attracted commendation from the whole community.

Some of the residents described the exercise as indeed the beginning of a new dawn in the community where the youths have come to add value and live up to expectations.

The event started with the initial gathering of the youths at the Ijegun Roundabout for orientation between 6:30 am and 7:00 am on Saturday.
After the orientation session, the youths in company of some of the elders swung into real action by applying tools for cleaning and clearing exercises into the clearing of the drainage system in the area.
Thereafter, they moved to the frontage of Ijegun Comprehensive High School and did a more rigorous task before finally moving to the frontage of the Oba’s Palace, where most of their efforts were committed. Despite the fact that work at the frontage of the Palace was quite enormous, the unrelenting youths remained unflinching till the end.

A lot of other side events such as familiarisation, public opinion polls by men of the media, light refreshments etc, made the event glamorous.

The Ijegun Youth Forum PRO, Comrade Ajobi Abiola, described the event as successful and expressed his delight over the project of cleaning the environment.
“Words are not enough to express our profound appreciation to all our beloved youths from every nook and cranny of Ijegun, who took part of their precious time to identify with this laudable project.”
We use this opportunity to thank all that made the event a success.”
“Our profound appreciation to men of the media, our ever supportive elders from the CDC, Police officers, our indefatigable youths and those who contributed towards the success of the project. We can only pray that God Almighty will reward all our sincere effort handsomely” Abiola stated.
