How Man, 46, Defied Girl,16, Impregnated Her & Induced Abortion

Police operatives from Gowon Estate Division have arrested a 46-year old man, Precious Bernard, for allegedly defiling a 16-year old girl, getting her pregnant and inducing abortion in order to terminate the pregnancy in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in November, 2025, at  Omobajesu Street, Akowonjo area of Lagos.

 

It was gathered that the suspect procured drugs in order to get rid of the pregnancy and after the victim took the drugs, there were complications. She was rushed to  Fanbell Hospital at Baale Bus Stop, Egbeda – Lagos, where one Dr. Collins, treated her.

 

After the preliminary investigation at the Gowon Estate, the DPO ordered that the matter be transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for further investigation over his alleged conduct.

 

After investigation at the Gender Section of the State Command, the suspect, Bernard, was found culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Precious Bernard ‘m’, and one other at large, sometime in the month of November, 2025, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: abortion and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Precious Bernard ‘m’, sometimes in April 2025, at about 1530hours, at No. 19, Omobajesu Street, Akowonjo Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim ‘f 16years old, got her pregnant and aborted the pregnancy and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria. 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Precious Bernard ‘m’ and one other at large, sometimes in November, 2025, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did give the victim, medicine for dilation and curettage “procuring abortion” and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 145(1)(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:”That you, Precious Bernard ‘m’ and one other at large, sometime in the month of November, 2025, did procure abortion and killed an unborn child of the victim, f 16years old and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 236 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

 

However, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the case.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
