Why I’m Donating Sports, Educational Materials To Lagos Schools – Oshoala

Former African women footballer award winner, Nigerian Asisat Oshoala (MON) has described her philanthropic gesture of donating sports and educational materials to some schools in Lagos State as her own little way of affecting the lives of children in the society.

Oshoala, a forward with Nigeria’s Super Falcons, through her pet project, Asisat Oshoala Foundation, has in the last four years donating sports and educational materials to pupils of Lagos primary schools.

The annual exercise from Oshoala, who plies her trade in the Chinese women’s league, started on Wednesday and it is expected that no fewer than 50 Lagos schools will benefit this year.

“It has always been in my mind to affect positively our youth and I believe encouraging them in their education is very important and rewarding. That is why I found it very important to assist these children by giving them what they need to excel in their studies and in sports.

” Tomorrow’s leaders, teachers, doctors, artists, entrepreneurs are today’s young people together we must protect them. I believe with what I am doing, I’m contributing my own quotas to give them bright future, ” Oshoala said.

 

The trips to the schools started on Wednesday and it will last for a week. Already schools in Epe and Bariga were visited on Day One, while it was the turn of schools in Agege and Alimosho areas of the state on Day Two.

Asisat Oshoala Foundation has also been impacting to the lives of average school girls in Lagos state with her annual Asisat Oshoala Secondary School Football Clinic where students of Lagos schools are trained in the rudiments of football.

She is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Chinese side Dalian Quanjian F.C. in the Chinese Women’s Super League as a forward.

She was named best player and was the highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

She was also named best player and second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women’s Championship.
