A housewife, Fauziya Ibrahim, has pleaded with an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, not to grant her husband, Hamza Musbau’s prayer for divorce because she is not going anywhere after their 16 years of marriage.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled husband, Musbau, has told the Court that he was tired of the union but the wife wants reconciliation and continuation of the marriage.
”I have been married to my husband for 16 years and I want to remain in this marriage,” she told the court.
Earlier, the husband, Musbau, filed the suit before the Court seeking for the dissolution of the marriage, claiming that he was tired of the marriage and wants to move on with his life.
He prayed for divorce on grounds of ”lack of love and affection”.
However, the wife, who appeared before the Court, insisted that nothing was wrong with her marriage and she wants to remain in the marriage because she has come a long way with her husband.
She asked the Court to allow her to reconcile, make peace with her husband and continue with the marriage.
The Judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, said that on the strength of the provisions of the Holy Quran, Almighty Allah allows a wife to seek for settlement, just as divorce is allowed.
He therefore, advised Ibrahim to try her best to make peace and settle any misunderstanding between them.
The Court adjourned the matter till 26th October, 2025, for the report of settlement.
