Imo: Our State In Our Firm Grips

BEHOLD THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE IMO PAN-NIGERIAN 3R GOVERNMENT OF SHARED PROSPERITY!

The present Imo State was recovered from the throat of an unyielding lion, a beast-like demon that left no hope for all Imolites. Imo was being swallowed. She was nearly gone.

Alas, help came from above.

Yes, the people were left in utter despondency having surrendered to, then, an invincible totalitarian version of democratic governance: the young and the old; the rich and the poor; everyone was under the siege of an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-superior and immensely unconscionable brand of a czar, a domineering emperor, politically and economically greedy one-man government. The emperor was dressed as a rescuer but finally was unveiled as a people’s tormentor absolute usurper and annihilator.

Today, there is Hope for all Imolites. The near statelessness was a horror seen by all in massive denial of human/ civic rights of ownership for individual citizens and even for the State.
An Emperor was here. He took estates wherever he wished. He owned the State treasury and all assets within the geographic enclave of Imo State. There was no difference, no discernible separateness between State treasury and the personal “wealth” of the emperor. He didn’t bother whose lands he took; whose ox was gored; whither of the State or of the citizens, group or community, even with or without certification!

It was pure horror. An 8-year spell of indescribable torment and lamentations!

Today, our institutions of State are being rejigged. The civil service is reformed and the automation exercise has made salary/pension payments accountable and transparent. The civil servants are now reclaiming their pride and enjoy free transportation to and fro work. Public confidence is being restored in government and at this wake, monuments of RECOVERIES are in the offing to give life to the once lifeless State. A massive multi billion Naira University was criminally stolen from IMO State but has now been reclaimed by IMO State. An Imo State once maimed is being revived. Yes, there are evidences now that Government can be run selflessly, to change the narrative and to serve a people almost led to their own Golgotha – the salvage abattoir of a defenceless people whose only guilt was they were deceived to allow RESCUE MISSION to replace the IMO New Face via propaganda, involving the hyped up battery/flogging of an unknown Catholic Priest.

Today, there are tangible upsurges in infrastructure upgrades. The decayed and dilapidated roads across the three zones are under massive and unprecedented upgrades. Choice contractors with traceable addresses are here working and IMO people are seeing positive developments in that regard.

The Orlu-Owerri and Owerri – Okigwe Roads have the Craneburg Construction Company to the rescue where the latest in road construction technologies are being used to deliver quality roads. In just few months to come, these roads touching the economic existence of IMO Commerce and services shall be delivered. The massive reliefs on all the sections already done are evident signposts of our Hope ahead.

The Imo State University Teaching Hospital was a “hospital” of lone purpose. Only the morgue worked at IMSUTH. The road leading to the secondary health institution, a supposedly referral hospital and the breeding ground for prospective doctors, was impassable. The IMSUTH we got off Ex Gov Udenwa as a legacy was confined in its only working department, the mortuary, as a cadeva. The workers had no joy. No salaries for years! Many Doctors departed the rot. Oh, no government attention. It was horrible.

Today, the story is different: the hospital has bounced back to life with 3R fully operative in the institution. The access road bears the signature of the Shared Prosperity mantra of the Sen Hope Uzodinma government. The entire hospital is back in all of its departments and amidst the staff, there is an industrial harmony never witnessed in the last 8yr duration. A new CMD, Dr Ifeanyi Nwamba has resuscitated the entire institution and the Medical School under the Provost, Prof Anyaehie has shortcircuited the previous 11yrs coma during which several batches of undergraduate medical students at Imsuth had remained without graduation. The medical students now have new lease of life; a hope of attaining their dreams of becoming doctors, first time in the last 12 years of cankerworm and locust.

A visionary governance spearheads the interests of the governed. From the audacity in the provision of adversely needed public infrastructure in roads: Chukwuma Nwaoha, Dick Tiger Rd and Street, the balloon Technology drainage that has solved the perennial flooding of Owerri Capital City, the new Evans Enwerem Way, the new Mohammadu Buhari Rd, the PolyNekede -Iheagwa- Obinze Rd, the World bank – Umuguma Rd, the Aladinma Ring Road marvel, the Awomamma – Okwudo Road, the Abor Mbaise- Itu – Ezinihitte Road, the Imsuth Rd Orlu and many others that space can not permit, etc to the human resource development plan involving thousands of our youths and women empowered, the testimonies abound in IMO State of what it means to have a people-centred good governance.

Above all the tangibles, I make bold to say that the intangible of freeing IMO from the scotching hold of economic, political and social annihilation, some sort of perpetual enslavement, to an era of summary emancipation, is the most impressive. We owe this to the salvaging grace of God and the visionary uprightness, transparency and accountability of the pan-Nigerian government of Shared Prosperity in Imo State.

Let’s not be deceived. Imo is free and our collective prosperity as a people beckons.
