Importers Association Declares Support For FG On Illegal Importation Of Goods

The Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has expressed its unwavering commitment to assisting the Federal Government in the ongoing fight against illegal importation, substandard and adulterated goods including false declaration, illegal arms trade etc in Nigeria. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Chairman of the South West Zone of the Association, Chief Dike Austine Kelly and National Vice Chairman, Dr George Ndubisi, in a statement in Lagos State during the Stakeholders meeting.
The group underscored the importance of collaboration between importers, government agencies, and security forces to ensure the security, safety and economic stability of Nigeria.
The association emphasized that legitimate importers adhere to strict standards and are committed to ethical business practices and therefore, support initiatives aimed at curbing illicit activities.
“The Importers Association of Nigeria stands firmly with the Federal Government in its efforts to eliminate illegal imports and ensure that only quality and genuine goods enter our markets.”
“We shall continue working with the government to strengthen enforcement, enhance Customs procedures and foster a transparent importation process”.Kelly stated.
IMAN also called for increased awareness campaigns to educate importers and the general public about the dangers associated with substandard goods, adulteration or false declaration of goods, as well as the implementations of illegal arms trade.
In their final statement, the association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting trade practices that support Nigeria’s economic growth while safeguarding its citizens and national security.
