Int’l Day of the Girl Child: Vintage 93.7 FM Hosts Secondary School Girls In Ibadan

International Day of the Girl Child aims to unite adolescent girls with advocates for their rights, and highlight the barriers they face.

As part of the year’s celebration, Vintage 93.7 FM hosted a conference for girls in secondary school to empower them to pursue their aspirations without intimidation.

The keynote speaker at the event, Dr Olufunke Adetuberu, expressed her gratitude to Vintage 93.7 FM management for organizing the event, saying that the conference would help in highlighting every girl’s value.

While giving her speech, the Founder of Olamma Cares Foundation, Mrs Chioma Fakorede, noted that for the girl child to excel in all spheres of life, she must be mentally stable.

Just as she stressed that all girl child should learn how to incorporate wellness into their lives.

A life Coach who was also present at the event, Mrs Folake Halima Gboyelade educated the girls on their hygiene, as she stressed that young ladies must maintain proper hygiene to prevent disease and infection and maintain a healthy body.

Another Guest Speaker at the event, Fatimah Akinyoade, urged the girls to always believe in themselves, practice good hygiene.

Just as she noted that when girls have access to safe and affordable sanitary materials to manage their menstrual cycle, it decrease their risk of infections.

Some of the girls present at the event shared with Vintage 93.7 FM some of the valuable lessons learnt from all the speakers which some of them said they look up to as role models and motivators that their life experiences will encourage any girl to be determined to succeed in their chosen careers.

The host of the event and General Manager of VINTAGE 93.7FM, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa, emphasized the importance of putting the gathering together which she said was to educate girls and instilling the belief that they can achieve anything they aspire to.

Her remarks, the Chief host and Managing Director of Vintage 93.7 FM, Abiola Ibrahim-Adedoja explained the importance of the event was to enlighten girls on what they can achieve not withstanding their background.
