It was Thomas Hauser who said that being a good Police officer is one of the most difficult, dangerous and idealistic jobs in the world. It is important to note that policing is very demanding, as their work demands that they be permanently on call. At the same time the Police Force has had a bad name over the years because of a few rogue officers, who have given new meaning to the saying; one rotten egg spoils the entire pudding. By their selfish acts, they have dented the image of the police and as fate would have it, the bad elements in the Force are easily noticed.

But it would be dishonest to deny the existence of a good number of Police officers, who execute their duties with diligence, dedication and professionalism.

Accordingly, P.M.EXPRESS deems it fit to highlight such hard-working officer like Supol Ugowe Igbinazaka Joel.

Hard work, as often said, pays. Hopefully, this piece will help to goad other officers, who often treat their work shabbily to work hard and honestly for the good of society.

 Supol Ugowe is one of the Police officers worthy to be mentioned for positively positioning the image of the Nigeria Police. He is currently the Coordinator, IGP Intelligence Response Team IRT South-West Annex Office, Lagos.

Ugowe, as he is fondly called, is an intelligent officer born and raised in Edo State and has great passion for the job. For Superintendent of Police, SP Ugowe, policing is a call to duty and when one is given a position of responsibility, such person must strive to give the society the best. He has displayed the ability to dislodge hoodlums and decimate criminal elements operating within his areas of engagement that were of serious concern to the Police authorities. 

Supol Ugowe is a typical example of an officer with wealth of experience, intelligence and super strategy in the job of policing. That is exactly what SP Ugowe has been doing in the various areas he had worked as Police officer.

Ugowe has been described as a master strategist and dedicated officer because he always made significant impact in any department he was deployed to. One striking thing about SP Ugowe is his organizational ability to bring people together to join him in combating crimes in any place he had worked in the past. 

The pipeline vandals will not forget the operational capacity of Supol Ugowe because he was their nightmare throughout the period he was deployed there to clean up the place. Thanks to the efforts of Ugowe, who brought his intelligence, skills and hard work to bring sanity over pipeline vandalism.

As a performing super officer, Ugowe was recently deployed to IRT and since he took over sanity has been restored to the place. The environment is now tidy and it is no longer business as usual as those conducts that brought bad image to IRT and indeed the Nigerian Police are now history. 

 The operational guidelines have changed and now superb due to continuous training being embarked on for professionalism by the officers championed almost on daily basis by Ugowe. Those achievements did not happen by accident but through effective planning with high sense of discipline, dedication and passion.

Supol Ugowe Igbinazaka Joel was born in Benin City, Edo State. He attended St Joseph Primary School, Benin City, Edo College, Benin City and graduated from Ambrose Ali University with BSC Hons (Public Administration).

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1990 and had served in various capacities successfully. 

He was former Officer in Charge, OC Provost Mopol 2 Lagos, DPO Ilupeju Police Division, Ekiti State Police Command, OC Intelligence, Idiroko Border, Ogun State and OC Crack Squad, Lagos State Police Command. 

Ugowe has also served as Commander Intelligence, IGP Special Task Force on Anti Pipelines Vandalism/illegal Bunkery, South West Command. Lagos and currently the Coordinator, IGP Intelligence Response Team, IRT South-West Annex Office, Lagos.

He has won several prestigious Awards both within and outside the country including Presidential medals and also attended several courses both within and outside the country.

He is a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police, IACP.

Ugowe is a well behaved, decent and responsible officer with so much regards from his subordinates because of his communication skills. He is happily married with children.
