Islamic Singer Rukayat Gawat Extols Ogbeni Aregbesola’s Virtues @60

Posted on June 1, 2017
Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, one of the most patronised Islamic singers in town, was at her very best last weekend during the grand finale of the week long 60th birthday celebration for Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the governor of the state of Osun.
The astute politician clocked 60 years on May 25, 2017 and as to be expected of a man of his status, drums were rolled out from different quarters in commemoration of his birthday.
From Osogbo, the state capital to Ilesha, the Governor’s hometown down to Lagos, his adopted homestead for years, it was celebration and salutations galore for the man who has brought smiles to the faces of many via his relentless service to the people.
Religious organisations of all divides, the labour unions, youths, children, public servants and cognoscenti of the state social circuit, were not left out as they all jostled to have a share in the birthday celebration of the Ogbeni, who has fought and won many political battles in the last two decades of his life.
But, perhaps one persona, who brought shine to the entire week-long birthday celebration is Islamic gospel music crooner, Rukayat Gawat with her captivating and spectacular songs.
She did give a good account of herself, with very soulful and inspirational melodious tunes to spice up the ceremony, which also had many traditional rulers, politicians, top government functionaries, students, workers and many more in attendance.
The highpoint of the event was when Ogbeni and his wife, Sherifat, alongside some traditional rulers who could no resist the music of Gawat stood up to join the sonorous-voiced singer on the dance floor.
