Jilted Married Woman Docked For Arranging Soldiers To Attack Estranged Lover

A 31-year old jilted married woman, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly arranging with soldiers to attack her estranged lover, Nwaigwe Emmanuel, and forcefully withdrawing N1.5m from his account after collecting his gold earrings worth $300,000 Dollars. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Young Shall Grow Street, Kudeyinbu Estate, ljegun, where the complainant, Emmanuel reside.

 

According to the Police, the suspect was not happy that the complainant was no longer interested in their relationship and asked her to go since she was already married and had a child.

 

That did not get down well with the lady, who then insisted that Emmanuel must settle her with N2m as compensation for opting out of the relationship but Emmanuel refused.

She then arranged with three soldiers, invaded his house and forced him to withdraw N1.5m from his account and collected his two gold earrings worth $300,000 Dollars after beating him mercilessly while promising to come back for N500,000 balance.

 

The complainant went to Police at Isheri Oshun Division and reported what happened. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

During interrogation, she reportedly informed the Police that she arranged with the soldiers to attack him to compensate her since he was the person that walked out of the relationship.

The Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor  and three others now at large, on 22/01/2025 at about 17:00hrs at The Young Shall Grow street, Kudeyinbu Estate ljegun, in the Lagos State magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony therein, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 criminal law of Lagos State Nigerią 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor and three others now at large, on the same. date, time and place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourselves in a way and manner likely to cause a breach of peace by forcefully entering into the premises of one Nwaigwe Emmanuel ‘M’, to steal and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168(d) criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor and three others now at large, on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal and transferred the sum of N1,500,000.00, from UBA bank of name Nwaigwe Emmanuel Bright with account number 2092351129 into your Access Diamond Bank with account number 0106478788 Ujunwa Chidimma Okafor and two gold earrings valued at $300,000.00 belonging to one Nwaigwe Emmanuel ‘M’, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:”That you, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor and three others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Nwaigwe Emmanuel ‘M’, with fist blows, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria.”

 

COUNT V:”That you, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor and three others now at large, on the same sume and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did threaten the of one Nwaigwe Emmanuel M’, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 56 (1) criminal law of Lagos Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at correctional center in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
