JMG Inspires Future Engineers, Hosts UNILAG Students On Factory Tour

Posted on March 10, 2026

To commemorate World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026, JMG Limited, Nigeria’s leading provider of integrated electro-mechanical solutions, hosted engineering students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for an educational tour of the company’s JMG and Jamara production facility in Gbagada Lagos, giving them firsthand exposure to modern engineering innovation in action.

The visit aligned with this year’s global theme, “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future Through Innovation and Digitalization.”

A total of 13 engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering, UNILAG, accompanied by two representatives of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE), participated in the immersive learning experience.

The students were guided through the production facility by members of the JMG Engineering Team, with a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) officer ensuring strict adherence to safety standards throughout the tour.

During the visit, the students explored key production processes and gained practical insights into how engineering innovation, smart systems, and digital technologies are driving sustainable industrial development.

The tour also featured an interactive session where students engaged with JMG engineers, asking questions and learning about real-world engineering applications and career opportunities within the sector.

Speaking during the visit, Fouad El Chami, Plant Manager, Production at JMG, emphasized the importance of practical industry exposure in shaping the next generation of engineers.

According to him, “Engineering is best understood not only in classrooms but through real industrial experience. Opening our facility to students allows them to see innovation, technology, and problem-solving in action. It helps bridge the gap between theory and practice while inspiring young engineers to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s industrial and technological advancement.”

He added that initiatives like the factory tour are essential for encouraging students to embrace innovation, digitalization, and sustainable engineering practices that will define the future of the industry.

The factory visit reflects JMG’s continued commitment to supporting engineering education, strengthening industry-academia engagement, and inspiring the next generation of innovators who will drive Nigeria’s technological progress.

With services spanning power generationelectrical infrastructurevertical transportationcooling systems, and air compressors, JMG continues to deliver value to customers through advanced engineering expertise and a highly skilled workforce that includes Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Computer, and Chemical Engineers.
