Jobless Man, 31, Sent To Prison For Engaging Girl, 17, In Sex Romp

A 31-year old jobless men, Lawal Rasaq, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly abducting and defiling a 17-year old girl for 11 days before he was apprehended.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened between 29th July, 2023 to 8th August, 2023 at Ireshe Road, Alagbonmeta, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where he resides.
The suspect, Rasaq, is facing a two-count charge of abduction and defilement before the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, which attracts several years of imprisonment and life imprisonment.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Olawunmi Osibanjo, told the Court that Rasaq abducted the girl, kept her in his house and had canal knowledge of her in contravention of Sections 268 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the case.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu, ordered that he be remanded at the Kirikiri custodial facility and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the State DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 7th September, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
